CD Packaging & Artwork FAQs
How do I create a custom template for a CD booklet?
Start with a finished size of 120 x 120mm, which is the standard size of our CD booklets and is designed to fit inside a standard jewel case.
Add 3mm bleed around the outside and keep important text, logos and other key parts of your design safely away from the trim edge. For the best print result, use high-resolution images at around 300dpi and set your artwork up in CMYK where possible.
What size should I make a CD inlay for professional printing?
StressFreePrint CD jewel case rear inlays have a finished size of 117 x 150mm and are supplied creased ready to fit into the back of a standard jewel case.
If you’re setting the artwork up yourself, add 3mm bleed around the outside, so your artwork file should be 123 x 156mm including bleed. We also provide downloadable artwork templates, which are the easiest way to make sure the size and crease positions are set up correctly.
How much bleed do I need to include for CD artwork?
Add 3mm bleed on all sides of your CD artwork where the design runs right to the edge.
This gives us a little extra artwork to work with when the finished piece is trimmed and helps avoid unwanted white edges. Keep important text, logos and other essential parts of the design at least 3mm inside the finished edge as your safe zone.
Do you provide an artwork check for custom CD packaging?
Yes. StressFreePrint includes a Free Artwork Check with every order.
Our artwork team will give your files a once-over before they go to print and let you know if they spot anything that could affect the finished result. That includes common issues such as low-resolution images, missing bleed or important content sitting too close to the trim.
Can I create my CD cover artwork online using free design tools?
Yes. Tools such as Canva or Adobe Express can be used to create CD artwork, as long as you set your document to the right finished size and allow for the required bleed.
When you’re finished, export the artwork at the highest quality available, ideally as a print-ready PDF. For our 120 x 120mm CD booklets, remember to add 3mm bleed around the outside.
