Choosing Your Raffle Tickets

When it comes to raffle ticket printing, size is a good place to start. A6 and DL both work well when you want something easy to hand out and keep hold of, while A5 gives you a bit more room when there’s more going on with the artwork.

There’s a choice to make with the paper too. Our silk and gloss options are available at 250gsm, with 350gsm silk there if you want something that feels a little heavier in the hand. There’s also a 350gsm recycled uncoated option if you’d prefer a different look and feel.

From there, you can add the practical bits your raffle needs, including sequential numbering, perforated tear-off stubs and ticket books.

You don’t necessarily need to overthink it. The size of your artwork, how much information you’ve got to fit in and how you want the finished ticket to feel will usually point you in the right direction.

Raffle Ticket Numbering, Perforation & Books

If you’ve got a few people helping to sell your tickets, keeping them together in raffle ticket books can make things much easier. You can hand a book to each person and know they’ve got their own batch to work through, rather than dealing with loose tickets going off in different directions.

Printed raffle tickets can also be sequentially numbered, making it easier to keep track of what’s been handed out and sold. A perforated tear-off stub gives you a separate section for collecting names, contact details or anything else you need for the draw.

How many tickets you put into each raffle book is really down to how you’re planning to sell them. Whether you need numbered tickets, perforated stubs or tickets made up into books, tell us how you’re running the raffle and we can help you work out the right setup.

What Should Go on a Raffle Ticket?

Raffle tickets are small, and once you start adding dates, prices, contact details and prize information, that space disappears pretty quickly. Before adding anything else, think about what someone actually needs to know when the ticket is in their hand.

The draw date is an obvious one, but make sure it’s easy to find rather than buried amongst everything else. The same goes for the ticket price, prize details and anything people need to know to take part. Someone shouldn’t have to read every word to work out what’s happening.

There’s nothing wrong with leaving some of the story off the ticket either. Whether you’re running a school raffle, club draw, fundraiser or local event, you might have plenty you want to say… but the ticket doesn’t have to do all of that work.

Give the important details some room and let everything else live somewhere more suitable.

Make It Look Worth Picking Up

You don’t need to cram loads onto a raffle ticket to make it stand out.

Sometimes a strong colour, a good image or simply a bit more space around the important details is enough. If you’ve already created posters or leaflets for the raffle, carrying some of that look across to your printed raffle tickets helps everything feel like part of the same event.

The ticket still needs to be easy to read though. If the draw date, price or prize gets lost in the design, it’s probably doing too much.

How Many Raffle Tickets Do You Need?

Raffle tickets have a habit of ending up everywhere. You might have a few people selling them at an event, local businesses keeping some on the counter or volunteers taking a batch away to friends and family.

It’s worth thinking about that before you print raffle tickets, particularly when deciding how many you’ll need. Running out halfway through an event isn’t ideal, but neither is being left with hundreds that have a date on them and can’t be used again.

If you’ve run the raffle before, last time around can usually give you a pretty good idea of what you’ll need. And if it’s your first one, think about how many people will be selling the tickets and where they’ll actually be available.

You don’t need to get it down to the exact ticket… just enough to choose a print quantity that makes sense.
